The VCU Kornblau Real Estate (KRE) Summer Fellows Program offers undergraduate real estate students a 10-week, paid rotational internship. Designed as an immersive, cohort-based experience, the program provides hands-on exposure to multiple areas of the real estate industry while supporting students’ professional growth.
Kornblau Summer Fellows participate in a structured rotation across several real estate and real estate-related companies, connecting academic learning to real-world experience while exploring career interests and building professional skills. Fellows gain exposure to a wide range of functions, such as property appraisal, financial analysis, property management, underwriting, site selection, sales and delivery processes, leasing and operations.
Throughout the program, fellows are supported by VCU KRE faculty and collaborate closely with a cohort of fellow VCU students. The experience begins with a dynamic, content-rich orientation and continues with opportunities to connect, share ideas and grow through collaboration with peers and industry professionals.
Previous fellowship rotations have taken place at organizations such as The Wilton Companies, Divaris Real Estate and Richmond Economic Development.
The VCU Kornblau Summer Fellows Program provided guidance in shaping my professional path. I was offered a full-time position at one of my summer fellows companies, where I gained early-career experience and spent more than two years building a strong foundation. That preparation gave me the confidence to move into my current role with a new company, where I see myself staying long term.
The KRE summer fellowship was a valuable experience for me. It gave me the opportunity to apply what I learned in class to real-world work. It also helped me find my professional voice and strengthen my communication and interpersonal skills.
Working across multiple companies through a rotational internship gave me exposure to different sides of the real estate industry. That experience helped me learn what I enjoy, what I don’t and ultimately how I want to shape my career moving forward.
Being part of the VCU KRE Summer Fellowship community has allowed Divaris to give back to the next generation of leaders while simultaneously identifying future talent for our firm. The program is seamlessly organized, making it easy for our team to mentor and collaborate with some of the brightest minds at VCU. The Kornblau Summer Fellows Program seeks motivated students with a strong interest in real estate and a desire to learn through hands-on experience.
