About Today's Speaker
Chris Shockley
President and CEO, Virginia Credit Union
Chris Shockley has served as president and CEO of Virginia Credit Union since 2016. He joined the organization in 2003 after a career in banking that began while he was an economics student working as a teller. Today, he leads the Richmond-based financial cooperative that serves nearly 500,000 members and holds more than $7 billion in assets.
Shockley has also played a central role in supporting financial education at VCU. In 2019, the Virginia Credit Union funded $5 million for two endowments to establish the VCU Financial Success Center, whose programs have received national recognition and serve the VCU and Greater Richmond communities.
He holds a bachelor's degree in economics and an M.B.A.

As each graduate is handed their diploma, a picture will be taken by a professional photographer with Photo Specialties. If you agreed to have your contact information shared, a free color proof and password for online viewing will be sent to your current mailing address. You are under no obligation to purchase prints.

Diploma and Degree Details
For May 2026 graduates, diplomas will be mailed beginning June 30, 2026.
VCU now offers certified digital diplomas (CeDiplomas). You’ll receive an email from CeCredentialTrust with a download link when available, and digital diplomas can be downloaded beginning June 30, 2026.
The official conferral date for May 2026 degrees is May 16, 2026. Degrees will be posted to graduates' transcripts on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, for students who have satisfied all degree requirements and received final approvals.
Before requesting official transcripts, be sure to check your academic transcript in eServices to confirm your degree has posted.
