Certificate in Real Estate
The Graduate Certificate in Real Estate is designed for working professionals seeking advanced study in real estate, particularly those with liberal arts or nonbusiness backgrounds. The program provides a focused introduction to real estate valuation, investment analysis and financing structures, with no undergraduate course prerequisites.
Coursework explores real estate valuation, investment analysis and financing structures. Students learn to apply quantitative measurement and analytical techniques to evaluate real estate investments and market opportunities while examining economic and financial analysis, alternative financing structures and trends in the securitization of commercial real estate debt and equity markets.
Graduates are prepared to evaluate real estate assets, communicate valuation insights clearly and analyze the ethical dimensions of real estate decisions using the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP®).
Curriculum
The certificate requires 12 credit hours beyond a bachelor’s degree and a minimum GPA of 3.0. All courses are offered in an online asynchronous format. Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, and relevant work experience is preferred.
Certificate courses may count toward the Evening MBA or the Master of Science in Business with a concentration in finance for graduates who wish to pursue a master’s degree in the future.
