The VCU Business School and the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond will jointly host the Spring 2024 Midwest Macroeconomics Meeting on May 17-19, 2024. All conference activities on Friday, May 17, will take place at the Richmond Fed, and activities on Saturday and Sunday, May 18-19, will be at the VCU Business School. We are excited to present keynote addresses by Nobuhiro Kiyotaki (Princeton) and Emi Nakamura (Berkeley).

Keynote Speakers:
Nobuhiro Kiyotaki
Nobuhiro Kiyotaki is the Harold H. Helm 1920 Professor of Economics and Banking at Princeton University. His research focuses on monetary and macroeconomics. He is a Fellow of the British Academy, a Fellow of the Econometric Society, and a Fellow of the European Economic Association. He was awarded the 2010 Stephen A. Ross Prize in Financial Economics, the 1999 Yrjö Jahnsson Award by the European Economic Association and the 1997 Nakahara Prize by the Japan Economics Association. He holds a PhD from Harvard University and a B.A. from the University of Tokyo.
Emi Nakamura
Emi Nakamura is the Chancellor's Professor of Economics at the University of California, Berkeley. Her research focuses on monetary and fiscal policy, business cycles, and macroeconomic measurement. She is co-director of the Monetary Economics program at the National Bureau of Economic Research and served as co-editor of the American Economic Review from 2018-2023. She was the 2019 recipient of the John Bates Clark medal and 2014 recipient of the Elaine Bennett Research Prize. In addition, she is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, a Fellow of the Econometric Society, and has received an NSF Career Grant and Sloan Research Fellowship. She holds a PhD from Harvard University and an A.B. from Princeton University.

Transportation and Accommodations
Travel to Richmond
- Richmond International Airport (RIC) is located 15 minutes from downtown Richmond and is serviced by the major US airlines including Delta, American, United, Southwest, JetBlue, and more. Taxis and rideshares are the most efficient means of getting to and from the airport. Estimated taxi fare to downtown is $30-35.
- International travelers may also consider Washington Dulles airport (IAD), which is about 2 hours from Richmond by car and connects to Amtrak via the DC Metro silver line.
- Those along the east coast may also find Amtrak to be a convenient travel option. Richmond is serviced by two stations: Staples Mill Road (RVR) with 20 daily departures, and Main Street Station (RVM) with 5 daily departures. The Staples Mill Station is about 15 minutes from downtown by car, and Main Street Station is about 1 mile from the main conference sites.
- If you are arriving by car, parking is available for a fee at the conference hotels (see below) and at the JL Lot on the VCU campus (200 W. Cary St.) for $2/hour up to $16 max/day. Those planning to park at the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond on Friday, May 17, must provide vehicle information in advance during the registration process.
