The optional graduate concentration in Health Care Management is designed for executive program and Evening MBA students who want a deeper understanding of the unique issues that affect the health care industry. This initiative is offered in collaboration with the VCU School of Allied Health’s Department of Health Administration, ranked 4th in the nation by U.S. News and World Report.
The Health Care Management concentration is now available to VCU Executive Program and Evening MBA alumni as the Health Care Management Certificate of Completion.
The program will explore the major influences in health care management from three different perspectives:
The National Perspective course will cover major policy issues and information technology support. The Employers’ Perspective course will focus on the business and financing of health care, insurance, and wellness programs. The Health Care Industry’s Perspective course will cover health care economics, marketing, compliance, and process improvement.
The program will be offered in a cohort structure every summer between the first and second years of the Executive MBA program. Class sessions for each course will meet over a three-day period, Thursday – Saturday. Students will be working each evening in project teams on course deliverables. In addition, there will be a capstone project due at the end of the concentration which ties the three courses together. Students will be taught by faculty members selected from the School of Allied Health.
