The ceremony will be available via a livestream the day of the event for graduates and guests who prefer to attend virtually. The event will also be recorded and distributed to all graduates after the ceremony.
Ceremony Registration: A registration form was emailed to all graduates on Monday, November 1st. All graduates must complete registration by no later than Sunday, November 21st. Requests to attend the ceremony after this deadline may not be granted. If you did not receive an email and believe you are eligible to participate, please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you’re an undergraduate student, or email@example.com if you’re a graduate student as soon as possible.
Tickets: Tickets will be required for all guests. Five guest tickets are allotted to each graduate until the registration deadline of November 21. Students do not need a ticket for themselves. Guest tickets will be claimed electronically from Altria Theater via a code we will send graduates on December 1. Please do not contact the Altria Theater at this time.
Virtual Slides: We will create a virtual slide for all graduates, whether attending in person or virtually. The slide will include each graduate's name and degree. Graduates have the option of submitting a photo and dedicating their degree via the registration form emailed to them.
Many details have not been finalized, but here are some of the anticipated FAQ we can address now:
How many guests may I invite?
Five guest tickets are allotted to each graduate until the registration deadline of November 21.
Must I wear regalia to participate?
Regalia will not be required for the School of Business Commencement on December 12. Graduates that do not wish to wear regalia are expected to dress in business attire. Regalia may be purchased at Barnes & Noble @ VCU (1111 W. Broad St.) or online at balfour.com/vcu.
How will this be different than the last ceremony before the pandemic and from the ceremony held in May?
Safety requirements are subject to change, but we currently expect a 100% capacity ceremony with masks required of all graduates, faculty, and guests. We will provide more logistical details as they are available.
Will there be a university-wide commencement for all VCU students?
