Six Sigma is a systematic methodology that utilizes factual information and statistical analysis to measure and improve a company's operational performance, practices and systems by identifying and preventing 'defects' in manufacturing and service-related processes in order to anticipate and exceed expectations of all stakeholders to accomplish effectiveness. Employing Six Sigma tools increases performance and decreases process variation, which leads to defect reduction, significant improvement in profits, waste reduction, employee morale and quality of product.
We offer two separate programs: Lean Six Sigma Green Belt and Lean Six Sigma Black Belt. In both programs, each participant is required to select a project within his or her organization to run through the DMAIC methodology. Green Belt and Black Belt Certification is awarded after the participant demonstrates a full understanding of the process and has completed his/her project. Projects must be completed within one year of taking the course. There are no ongoing requirements to remain certified.
Lean Six Sigma Courses
Green Belt is offered two times (fall and spring) and Black Belt is offered once a year (summer).
These certification programs require four days of in-class instruction followed by completion and approval of a Lean Six Sigma project. During instruction days, participants will receive training on the methodology each day from 8:30-3:30 pm, and then have the option for instructor led coaching on their individual projects from 3:30 - 4:30 pm each day. It is recommended that participants come with an idea of a project they might like to implement for certification in order to make the most use of this time.
