Virginia Credit Union Financial Success Center at VCU

The new Virginia Credit Union Financial Success Center at VCU is dedicated to helping our community move forward to achieve financial success. It aims to increase the prominence of financial instruction, research, programming and monitoring among the VCU community.

The Financial Success Center will provide the VCU community with free personal and professional financial education, including assistance and counseling on budgeting, saving, credit, student loan repayment, career transitions and more. It supports all aspects of financial success through solutions, education and research-oriented finacial programs that help:

  • reduce debt 
  • protect investments
  • increase overall financial confidence

Meet the director

Carolyn McCrea, M.Ed., is a higher education specialist with over a decade of experience in professional development and student success. McCrea earned her B.A. in english and education from James Madison University, and her M.Ed. in higher education administration from the College of William and Mary. Her research and programming focus on financial wellbeing and barriers to financial success.

The Money Spot

The Money Spot helps Virginia Commonwealth University students achieve financial freedom with expert (and free) advice from money coaches who understand the day-to-day challenges of VCU students — because they're students.

Money Spot Services

  • One-on-one coaching sessions that provide guidance and advice tailored to your individual needs
  • Presentations to share important financial knowledge for student organizations or classes.
  • On campus workshops and pop up events open to all VCU students
