Guest Tickets: Tickets are required for entry for all guests. Graduating students do not need a ticket for themselves. All graduating students who have submitted a graduation application through eServices or competed a Request to Walk form with the help of their academic advisor will be sent a Ticket Request Form via their VCU email by early October. All tickets expire at 6:45 p.m. Any unclaimed seats will be opened up to guests without tickets at this time.
Personal Items: We recommended that graduating students leave any personal items including purses, coats, umbrellas, cameras, etc. at home, in their vehicle, or with family. Personal items may be left in the ballroom during the ceremony and graduates will have access to the room again after the ceremony in order to retrieve them; however, there will be no guard watching personal items during the ceremony. If you want to ensure the safety of these items, please give these items to your guests to keep for you during the ceremony. We will not be responsible for lost or stolen items.
Food and Gifts: No outside food or drink is permitted. Please note that Altria staff will not allow balloons or glass into the building, including gifts such as picture frames.
Photographer: A professional photographer will photograph each graduate during the ceremony. Ordering information will be included in the event program.
University Ceremony: Graduating students who have submitted a graduation application online through eServices will be invited to both the School of Business departmental ceremony and the University-wide VCU Commencement ceremony. Students may choose to attend one, both, or neither ceremony. Students will stand as a group to be recognized as business graduates at the University-wide ceremony and students will be individually called by name and walk across the stage at the School of Business departmental ceremony. For questions or more information visit VCU Commencement or call 804.828.1917.
Special Needs: Requests for special accommodations for graduating students should be made to the Office of Undergraduate Studies at 804.828.3710 no later than Friday, November 9th. Latin (or Laudatory) Honors: Latin honors is the one time VCU will look at both your VCU GPA and any/all transfer GPA's from colleges you attended. PLEASE NOTE: for students who meet the requirements for Latin Honors designation, the GPA used for purposes of determining recognition at our graduation ceremony is calculated from the previous semester due to printing deadlines! Actual Latin Honors designations are determined by the Office of Records and Registration and will appear on a student’s official transcript once her/his degree is conferred several weeks after the ceremony. The Latin Honors designation in the ceremony program indicates that, based on the final grades from the previous semester, the student is a candidate for Latin Honors. The criteria that is considered for Latin Honors candidacy in the School of Business ceremony program comes from the most recent semester that final grades have been submitted for and does not reflect courses in which students are currently enrolled, both in terms of GPA and credit hours toward the 45 credit minimum for recognition.
Please see the VCU Bulletin for details on Laudatory Honors qualifications. If you have a question about whether or not you will be recognized at the ceremony based on the information above, please contact the Undergraduate Studies office at 804.828.3710.
Diplomas: The release of diplomas is handled by the Office of Records and Registration, not the School of Business. For details on timing, please see https://commencement.vcu.edu/graduation-info/#diplomas
