
VCU's Alpha Mu, Gamma Iota Sigma Chapter Receives 10 Awards in Chicago, IL
Each October, Gamma Iota Sigma brings together the best and the brightest of tomorrow's future industry leaders for a three-day conference designed to provide a stronger connection between the students and industry. The Annual International Conference also provides programs in professional development, educational topic sessions, one of the largest career fairs dedicated to the risk management, insurance and actuarial science professions, and countless opportunities to network with industry professionals and faculty and students from local chapters.
The 41st Annual International Conference took place October 11-13, 2012 in Chicago, IL. This year's conference was co-hosted by the Alpha Kappa Chapter from the Katie School of Insurance at Illinois State University.
Thirteen students from the Alpha Mu Chapter travelled to Chicago, IL to learn more about the risk and insurance industry. They came home with awards in Chapter Management, Alumni Relations, Public Relations, Community Service, and Membership Development. They also received 4 Black and Gold Awards, along with the distinguised award of Superior Chapter.
Gamma Iota Sigma, Alpha Mu Chapter
The Center supports the VCU chapter of Gamma Iota Sigma, the risk management and insurance studies international business fraternity. GIS encourages, establishes and enhances the professionalism of students in the risk management, insurance and actuarial science majors so they are prepared for employment in the industry. Through cohesion among members, Gamma Iota Sigma helps increase knowledge of the industry and encourages comfortable interaction with industry leaders and the formation of career-enhancing contacts.
