The Graduate School at Virginia Commonwealth University has built a community of students, faculty members, and staff, providing those affiliated with the school with a wealth of resources and support services to assist in academic and research development.
The Graduate Bulletin in effect at the time of admission contains the official requirements of your degree program. It is important that all graduate students be familiar with the bulletin, the policies and procedures of the Graduate School and the university, and any additional requirements for individual schools and programs.
The Graduate Student Association is an advocate for the issues and needs of graduate students at Virginia Commonwealth University. From Faculty and Staff Meet and Greet events and monthly socials to the annual Graduate Research Symposium and Exhibit, GSA events are designed to enhance academic skills, provide professional development opportunities and facilitate an active social environment. GSA also assists with travel costs for academic conferences and places students on campuswide committees to ensure the concerns of graduate students are heard.
For more information on GSA activities and how to join, visit the organization's Web site.
Designed to help students develop a greater connection to the university, VCU offers several graduate housing options on both the MCV and Monroe Park campuses. In addition, resident assistant and residence director positions are available and include a stipend based on the length of the contract, as well as a meal plan allowance and housing in the residence hall. For more information on available on-campus housing options, visit VCU’s Residential Life and Housing Web site.
Many graduate students also choose to live off campus. Off-campus housing information, including property management companies, apartment listings and roommate message boards, is available from the Division of Student Affairs’ Off-Campus Student Services.
For available off-campus housing and roommate requests from fellow students, visit the Graduate School's classifieds section. Please note that the Graduate School is only responsible for posting information and does not endorse any housing option.
