VCU's Alpha Mu Chapter of Gamma Iota Sigma

brought home a Record Number of Honors from the

     GIS 40th Annual International Conference

The Alpha Mu Chapter returned from the Gamma Iota Sigma 40th Annual International Conference with 18 awards.  This is more awards than any other chapter in the history GIS. These 18 honors include 10 Black & Gold Awards, 5 Chapter Outstanding Performance Awards (Alumni Relations, Chapter Management, Community Service, Membership Development and Public Relations), Saquib Cheema received the Anita Benedetti National RIMS Award, and we were presented a Superior Chapter Award. And for the first time we were voted to have the best Chapter Roll Call Skit.

The students were in their realm. There was record attendance, with 274 students/advisors from 31 chapters and over 150 industry representative. The keynotes speakers included, Powell Brown, the CEO of Brown & Brown, Mr. Marohn, the Executive VP of Chartis, and Wade Reece, Chairman and CEO of BB&T Insurance, just to name a few.

Everyone was busy attending industry breakout sessions on Friday and leadership sessions on Saturday, and of course we had the role call skits Saturday morning. The highlight was the awards banquet.
